Belen campaign signs still up

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A First Amendment battle’s brewing in Belen. Mayor Robert Noblin, says it’s his first amendment right to keep his campaign signs up, even though the election was over a year ago. However, Belen City Councilor Danny Bernal points to Belen’s ordinance which says campaign signs can only be displayed for 30 days before an election and 10 days after. That ordinance calling for a $50 fine every day for every sign. Bernal adding, Nobilin’s refusal has equated to up to $20,000 worth of fines.
