Officer involved shooting with Espanola Police department

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — On Tuesday, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate an officer-involved shooting involving the Espanola Police Department. Agents learned at around 12:00 p.m., the Espanola Police Department responded to the Pajarito Housing complex in Espanola, in reference to domestic violence call. When EPD officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with the suspect, identified as Jerome Naranjo who attempted to close the door on officers but was unsuccessful. As officers entered the residence, a physical altercation ensued. Officers observed Naranjo with a firearm in his hand. An EPD officer fired his duty weapon striking Naranjo, who was transported from the scene and flown to a hospital in Albuquerque. He is currently listed in stable condition. Upon his release, he will be facing charges. No officers were physically injured during the incident.
