Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Bernalillo County commissioners have approved a resolution declaring the unincorporated areas of the county, outside the city limits, as film-friendly, in support of a sustainable local economy and to stimulate job creation and retention. In 2021, Bernalillo County received $214 million in direct-spend money for in-county purchases from the film industry. Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada who famously acted in the Breaking Bad franchise says the declaration will allow the county to build on an already thriving Albuquerque industry. Since 2018, the Economic Development Department has issued more than 400 film permits and location agreements. Approval of the resolution formalizes the county’s commitment to the industry.
