Albuquerque speed enforcement cameras begin ticketing

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — No more warnings, starting Wednesday, drivers going over the speed limit in certain areas of Albuquerque will be ticketed by the City’s Automated Speed Enforcement cameras. Since warnings began last month, more than 2,000 have been issued. Right now, three speed cameras are operational with plans to increase the number to 10. Valerie Hermanson, the City’s Vision Zero Coordinator says, so far, the data proves what was already known: drivers are ignoring speed limits and creating dangerous roads. For example in the last month, 32 vehicles were clocked by the cameras going 60 mph or more over the speed limit.
