APD speaks out during Sexual Assault Awareness Month

(Albuquerque, N.M.) –  During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Albuquerque Police Department is recognizing survivors who are working through trauma and those who have endured the repercussions of the rape-kit backlog. They’re reminding survivors and other individuals affected by sexual violence and need support, to reach out to the Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico hotline at 505-266-7711. If you have questions about the status of your case and you believe your rape kit was on the Backlog, please contact the SAIL line, at 1-866-613-7245 (SAIL) or at kitinfo@abqsane.org. SAIL is a hotline manned by the Albuquerque SANE Collaborative where you can leave a message and a trauma-informed advocate will return your call with answers about your rape kit. The department says, even in this time of uncertainty, it’s committed to providing the resources and support that sexual assault survivors need.
