The president’s third State of the University address is expected to focus on several themes including UNM’s roll in the community through health and higher education, student success, and the sustainability of character during difficult times. Research priorities, economic development initiatives and University milestones are also on the agenda.

“As always, I value open communication with the campus community and the State of the University address is one way for me to ensure all our students, faculty and staff know the challenges we are facing and the obstacles we’ve overcome,” Stokes said. “Through creative and innovative ways, we’ve faced this difficult year together and I’m eager to tell you of the growth that is coming from it.”

Past addresses have informed listeners on current initiatives and future plans. Due to the unusual year The University of New Mexico, and the rest of the world, has experienced, this address will take a slightly different approach and tone.

It will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21 at noon and will be streamed on the President’s website.

It can also be viewed on the UNM Facebook page and UNM YouTube channel.
