Sheriff Manual Gonzales III Announces Arrest of Repeat Offender in South Valley of Albuquerque

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — On January 11, 2021, South Area Command Deputies were alerted that Matthew Cerno had left his South Valley residence and currently had a no-bond hold warrant for criminal damage to property (felony) and assault. Deputies were in contact with Cerno on January 7, 2021, regarding additional felony charges and his violation of a restraining order, but Cerno refused to exit his residence at that time. When Cerno arrived back at his residence on January 11, 2021, deputies made contact with him while he was still in his vehicle. Initially, Cerno refused to leave the vehicle, but eventually, he exited, where he continued to be physically non-compliant until he was placed into custody.

“I am tremendously proud of the hard work displayed by our Field Services Deputies each day as they successfully find and arrest repeat violent offenders in Albuquerque.” said Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III“It is our priority to maintain this notable work ethic which keeps our citizens, children and businesses safe.”

Cerno has been arrested approximately 20 times with multiple felony charges in the past 15 years.
