No Space Command for Albuquerque

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)–Albuquerque has lost out to Huntsville, Alabama in the competition to become headquarters for the U.S. Space Command. Kirtland Air Force Base had been named one of six finalists for the job in November.

Senator Martin Heinrich tells the Albuquerque Journal he’s disappointed with how the process played out, and that it appears it was a rush job on the part of the Air Force.

Cities in Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, and Florida were also being considered.
