Fort Bliss soldier shot

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) —  The Las Cruces Sun-News reports of a shooting early Tuesday, by military police at Fort Bliss after a soldier at the post pointed a handgun at M.P.’s and was shot.

The 20 year old soldier had been in the Army for 9 months and was in the infantry. Lt. Col. Allie Payne, Fort Bliss’ public affairs officer said that the soldier had been asking for a ride off-base, when a by-stander noticed his erratic behavior and notified military police.

Four officers responded and found the soldier non-compliant with orders before he took out a handgun and pointed it at the police. The soldier, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital, and reported to be in stable condition.
