Santa Fe, NM (KKOB)–Bad news for out-of-work New Mexicans. The State Department of Workforce Solutions says it’s been notified by the federal government that the Lost Wages Assistance program is coming to an end, because it’s out of money.
Cabinet Secretary Bill McCamley says New Mexico was the first state to apply for the funds, which provided an additional $300 per week to those who’ve lost work due to the pandemic and are receiving jobless benefits. He says the sixth and final week of L-W-A payments began going out this week.
McCamley also says claimants will continue to get their normal weekly benefit amounts.
