Former LANL employee sentenced

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)–A former employee at Los Alamos National Laboratory has been sentenced for making false statements to the Department of Energy. The U.S. Attorneys office for New Mexico says 68 year old Turab Lookman of Santa Fe will serve five years probation, and will pay a $75-thousand fine. He’s also not allowed to leave the state during his probation.

Federal prosecutors say, in 2018, Lookman denied to a counterintelligence officer that he had applied for a job with a program established by the Chinese government to recruit individuals with access to foreign technology and intellectual property. He pleaded guilty in January.
