(Albuquerque)-Hotels around Albuquerque are having a hard time during the coronavirus pandemic. They’ve been ordered to reduce occupancy to 50 percent … but many hotels say they aren’t even getting that many people at a time. Occupancy is in the single digits.
the CEO of Premiere Hospitality tells KOB-TV they cannot make their mortgage payments or their utility bills. As for cutting costs, hotel officials say they’ve started with garbage cans. The city sends its waste service to pick up garbage cans at hotels five times a week at a cost of 600 dollars. Mayor Tim Keller says the city might increase garbage pickup services to homes since more people are staying home during the coronavirus pandemic. Keller says that would allow the city to decrease service to hotels.
