NM Jobless Claims Rise

(Albuquerque)-The cabinet secretary for the Department of Workforce Solutions says his agency is working hard to keep up with a spike in unemployment claims. And Bill McCamley tells the Albuquerque Journal that there have been no delays so far.

With layoffs increasing in light of covid-19, there are related business closures.

Almost 11-thousand New Mexicans applied for benefits last week…a ten-fold increase from the previous week.

McCamley says applicants need to go to the Department’s web site and file their claims on line. If you qualify for unemployment, you should start getting benefits about a week after applying.
