(Albuquerque)-Healthcare workers on the front lines now want Governor Lujan Grisham to expand worker protections … especially those in the healthcare industry. Some hospitals have yet to respond to protesting employees. The Associated Press reports Delma de Lora, President of the District 1199 Union, says everyone needs to be protected … including nurses, radiologists, pharmacists and others in the healthcare field.
The protections requested by the union include recognizing healthcare workers are the first responders … giving them the proper equipment so they’re protected on the job … making hospitals stock up on such equipment … letting some workers work from home … and requiring patients to have fewer visitors. The union also wants the governor to make hospitals provide health insurance and health care for their employees.
