(Albuquerque)-Time has apparently run out for supporters of marijuana legalization in New Mexico, with the 30-day legislative session ending next week. It appears the measure has been tabled.
Emily Kaltenbach with the New Mexico Drug Policy Alliance, which supports legalization, says even though the state decriminalized cannabis last year, there’s still an underground market…putting people at risk: she says people don’t know the quality or the potency of the marijuana they’re buying.
Kaltenbach acknowledges that there’s currently no good way of measuring a driver’s level of marijuana intoxication. Kaltenbach says there are pilot programs taking place to help law enforcement detect impairment.
