Arrest in Crash From Last October

A MAN WHO WAS ALLEGEDLY HIGH ON METH HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR A FATAL HEAD-ON CRASH THAT HAPPENED LAST OCTOBER IN RIO RANCHO. 55 YEAR OLD DWIGHT DAVID WEIR OF BOSQUE FARMS FACES CHARGES THAT INCLUDE VEHICULAR HOMICIDE, DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, AND POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. WEIR WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON UNSER NEAR MARIPOSA WHEN HIS VEHICLE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND SMASHED HEAD-ON INTO A STATE POLICE VEHICLE. SGT. NATHAN SEARLE SURVIVED HIS INJURIES…BUT A PASSENGER IN WEIR’S S-U-V, MARK MARQUEZ OF FARMINGTON, DIED. WEIR WAS ARRESTED SUNDAY AND TAKEN TO THE SANDOVAL COUNTY JAIL.
