Lawmakers Protest Expo NM Decisions

FIFTEEN REPUBLICAN STATE SENATORS HAVE HAND-DELIVERED A LETTER TO GOVERNOR LUJAN GRISHAM, EXPRESSING CONCERNS ABOUT THE DECISION TO HOUSE ASYLUM SEEKERS AT EXPO NEW MEXICO. IN THE LETTER, THE SENATORS SAY THEY DON’T OPPOSE USING THE FAIRGROUNDS TO TEMPORARILY HOUSE THE MIGRANTS…BUT IT’S PROBLEMATIC THAT THE 4-H HORSE SCHOOL HAS HAD TO MOVE TO LAS CRUCES.

THEY SAY IT WAS THEIR UNDERSTANDING THAT NO SCHEDULED EVENTS WOULD BE IMPACTED. ONE G-O-P SENATOR, GREGG FULFER OF JAL, SAYS HE DIDN’T SIGN THE LETTER, BECAUSE IT DIDN’T GO FAR ENOUGH IN EXPRESSING HIS AND HIS CONSTITUENTS’ CONCERNS ABOUT THE MATTER.
