Following questions about possible misspent public money at the UNM Athletics Department, interim university president Chaouki Abdallah says he’s taking action to institute stronger internal controls. Abdallah says inconsistencies have been discovered in the purchasing of the suites for Lobo men’s and women’s basketball games and that the university will seek to collect any past due amounts. Athletic Director Paul Krebs announced last month that he was stepping down after it was learned public money was used on a fundraising golf junket to Scotland.
