July 4th Kept City Fire Crews Busy

Albuquerque firefighters didn’t get much chance to kick back and relax on Tuesday. There were over 1,000 requests for service from both the 311 app and 911. AFD says that’s 3-times as many as a normal day.

As for reports of illegal fireworks, nearly 3,000 came in from Friday through the fourth. Seventeen citations for using illegal fireworks were issued and AFD says it responded to 78 outside fires, a commercial structure fire, and a house fire in the 24 hours of July Fourth.

The fire department says no major injuries were reported from fireworks.
