Downtown Anti Crime Plan Proposed

Mayor RJ Berry says his administration has a plan to do something about the recent spike in crime in Downtown Albuquerque. The mayor has unveiled what he’s calling a multi-pronged approach to the problem. Part of the plan includes stepped-up police enforcement.

He says it involved APD and its bicycle and foot patrol officers being present in Downtown Albuquerque. Berry says there are times when officers need to be outside their patrol cars Downtown to address crime in the area.

APD Chief Gordon Eden says the plan has been in place for more than a week and in that time officers have made eight misdemeanor and 11 felony arrests Downtown.
