It’s still not known what started a wildfire that’s burning at the top of the Sandia Mountains. The Crest fire, north of the media towers, has now grown to between 15 and 20 acres. No structures are being threatened. Helicopters are making water drops from the air, and ground crews from the forest services and the Bernalillo County Fire Department are monitoring the fire. Authorities have closed New Mexico 536 and evacuated the Sandia Crest viewing area.
