There was a deputy-involved shooting early Tuesday in the South Valley just after 1 AM. Sheriff Manny Gonzales says they’re waiting on deputies’ reports on the incident. It started at a car wash near Coors and Arenal where deputies were running plate numbers on cars parked there. The information came back that the vehicles were stolen. The Sheriff says the suspect, 28-year-old Miguel Gonzalez, drove off. The Sheriff says Gonzales is a self-admitted gang member who spent time in jail and was just released on June 7th of this year.
Deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on Gonzalez but he fled on foot. Shots were fired and he was killed a half a mile from Coors and Arenal. Sheriff Gonzales says they’ve gotten numerous nuisance calls about the car wash about loud music and other activities.
