An Albuquerque City Councilor tells our news partner, KOB TV, he’s proposing a task force on street racing. Councilor Ken Sanchez made the remark after Saturday Night’s second crash within a week caused by suspecting street racing.
The first crash happened a week ago Saturday on I-25, killing 10 year old Esmerelda Rivera. The suspected drag racer was said to be traveling about 100 miles an hour when his vehicle rear-ended the vehicle Esmerelda was in.
A driver was thrown from his vehicle on I-40 near Carlisle this past Saturday night when two street racers cut him off.
Sanchez says the task force he’s proposing would find more resources for better traffic enforcement.
