Another Spike in Holiday Travel

A lot of people are ready to go this Thanksgiving. It’ll be crowded on the road and in the sky with 3.5 million people traveling 50 miles or more in New Mexico and the rest of the Mountain West. AAA New Mexico says 89% of those people are driving.

Spokesman Doug Shupe says you should take certain precautions before starting your road trip. Allow yourself enough time to get to your destination and get at least seven hours of sleep the night before you leave. Shupe says also get your car checked out or check it out yourself.

And make sure everyone buckles up in the vehicle. New Mexico’s had a number of crashes in which people not buckled up were thrown from the car or truck.
