In Carlsbad Monday the two inmates who escaped from a transport van last spring were in court for charges related to their escape. The AP reports Lionel Clah and Joseph Cruz both entered not guilty pleas. The men appeared via video from the State Penitentiary. Judge Raymond Romero set bond for both men at $750,000, cash only. It was on March 19th the two men were able to escape from the van in southeast New Mexico. They were arrested separately days later in Albuquerque. Clah is behind bars for armed robbery while Cruz is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder.
