After serving about half of her 27 years sentence, Stephanie Lopez has been released from prison in the 2002 death of her daughter, who became known as Baby Brianna. The little girl died after being beaten and sexually abused. Her father and uncle are still in prison in connection with her death. New Mexico law was later changed, mandating a 30 year sentence in cases where a child dies as a result of abuse.
