Bomb Threat Shuts Down APS Middle School

Students of Eisenhower Middle School in Albuquerque are not in classes Monday. School was cancelled after the building was put on lockdown, then evacuated because of a bomb threat.

Spokesperson Monica Armenta with APS tells New Radio KKOB they called in the ABQ Police and cancelled classes. Police spokesman Simon Brobik says the treat came by e-mail and they got wind of it around 7:30 am. He says, given what’s been happening in New York, New Jersey, and Minnesota in the last 48 hours, APD took no chances and activated its bomb squad. It also called in federal agencies and State Police.

Parents were contacted and told they could pick up their students in the empty lot behind the school. APD is still investigating.
