Good news! Rocko the Pit Bull Ambassador found a great home! Sweet older Reina is ready to be your Valentine and waiting for YOU at our Eastside shelter in our first building A.
Both of our featured pets are ready to go home and begin a long and loving relationship. This weekend our days/hours are different due to the holiday. (please see holiday info below). So hurry on over as Saturday is the only day this weekend you will be able to meet these two fantastic dogs.
Kandy (ID# A 1073918) is a 9 year old, female tri-color Harrier mix. She weighs (61 pounds). Kandy has lovely markings with the cutest little stumpy tail. She came to us when her family got a new puppy and Kandy was not sure she liked the new puppy so they surrendered Kandy. Sometimes those rowdy puppies have not learned their social skills yet (that is up to the humans) and they can be rough or rude with the resident dog. In any case Kandy is a super sweet and fairly mellow girl. Kandy is calm and quiet in her kennel and eager to come out for a walk. She is a dream to walk with on leash. We think she will be easy to house train once she learns her new homes routine. She always takes care of business immediately and her kennel is spotless. Kandy has nice teeth that really do not look like a 9 year old. Kandy has a gentle yet playful nature. She enjoys a bit of easy running around our play yard and she gives playful kisses. Although not a couch potato this gentle girl might prefer a calmer home/family. We find children 12 and over are old enough to understand skills needed to live with a companion. With education and encouragement from mom and dad their children (just like puppies) learn important skills and what is needed to take care of, play with and respect their canine companions. Kandy will be a perfect companion for daily walks and yes she would benefit from loosing just a couple pounds. Sweet Kandy is ready to meet you at our Eastside shelter just in time for Valentine’s Day. She is in the first building (A) you come to after exiting the lobby.
Gwennie (ID# A 1732746) is a 2 year old, female black Labrador Retriever mix. She weighs 40 pounds so a great medium size and a great age. Last week Gwennie was in our second building B that is usually a much quieter building. This sweet young girl was polite and quiet. You know what they say about location, location, location. Well Gwennie was moved to our 1st building (A) and is not sure she likes her new location. She has a noisy next door neighbor that kind of drives her crazy because that other girl is very frustrated in her kennel. When you come to the Eastside shelter to meet your next great companion please ask to meet Gwennie out in a yard away from her neighbor. Here you will find Gwennie to be a calm very friendly dog. She is easy to walk on leash, especially for her age and she really enjoys taking her daily walks. She loves to be with people receiving attention, affection and belly rubs. She happily gives little kisses to express her love. She has participated in our doggie play groups. Gwennie came to play group with one of our very playful dogs, Hermit that likes to play a bit on the rowdy side. Dogs often learn skills from other dogs. It seems pretty little Gwennie may not have much previous experience in the fine art of doggie play. When she began to play she was a little cautious like any smart girl but she watched and learned from Hermit. If you have another dog, bring him/her in to meet Gwennie. We want each and every adoption and integration into the home to go as smoothly as possible. Your new companion will need some time to acclimate and learn routines but if there is another dog in the home it is very beneficial to meet their new canine friend first. Since Gwennie is on the calmer side she should do equally well in a mature home or a family with children over 8 and yes, she would be very happy as an only child too. Due to her age when she is feeling safe secure and loved she may become more energetic and she could be a very nice hiking partner. Gwennie’s fondest wish is to find the forever love of a home and/or family just in time for Valentine’s Day.
