Let the fighting within church begin again.
New Vatican documents show the church may be lightening up on Gay issues. A preliminary document calls for new openness toward the gay community. Although this may not be a shift in Catholic Church doctrine it could signal a more tolerant stance on homosexuality. I doubt this will be the paradigm shifter Vatican II was 50 years ago. The church like any major corporation or political entity relies on image and with changing social attitudes around the globe, the church doesn't want to appear so far behind the times. But I doubt the church is latching onto this because gay issues are the flavor of the week now. I assume pressure was put on by vocal groups within the church and perhaps even money men. However the old guard of the church is probably not too thrilled with the new changes, if there happen to be any. Let the fighting within church begin again.
