EDGEWOOD, N.M. (AP) A 24-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of his father and the dumping of the victim's body in woods near Edgewood in Torrance County. A deputy discovered the body of 53-year-old Mark Mountjoy of the Moriarty area late Friday while checking on a parked vehicle and seeing a man run away.
A search for the man who ran away was unsuccessful Saturday but officials say Jarett Mountjoy came forward Sunday to speak with investigators. Sheriff Heath White says the son was arrested Wednesday night after the state Office of the Medical Investigator determined the cause of death.
It was not immediately known whether Jarett Mountjoy has a lawyer.
