ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Some Albuquerque officials are concerned about fallout from recent fatal shootings involving police officers. The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce says some potential new and repeat visitors are voicing reservations because of the shootings, and chamber President Terri Cole says she's assuring them that Albuquerque is a safe city. But Cole tells the Albuquerque Journal that a widely circulated police video of one shooting is not good for the city's reputation.
Some City Council members also express concern, with Councilor Rey Garduno saying a city's reputation is damaged when it's spoken of in derisive terms.
Even before the recent shootings, the U.S. Department of Justice has been investigating whether the Police Department has a pattern or practice of violating people's civil rights through the use of force.
