ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) An Albuquerque woman is facing charges after police say she and her boyfriend tried to steal vodka in a stroller with their 1-year-old baby. KOAT-TV reports that Andrea Garcia recently was arrested as she fled authorities who caught the heist on a security camera.
According to police, grocery store employees tried to stop Garcia and her boyfriend but the baby's father pulled a knife and then darted across the street with the stroller. Witnesses say he left his girlfriend and baby behind.
Garcia told police she was going to use the vodka to pay rent to her sister. Garcia is facing child abuse charges. It's unclear if she had an attorney.
The baby was handed over to the Children, Youth and Families Department.
