ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) New Mexico State Police Chief Pete Kassetas says he will meet with Taos residents over a case involving an officer shooting at a minivan with a mom and five children inside. The Albuquerque Journal reports that Kassetas will meet privately with community leaders Friday in Taos so residents can express their concerns.
A dashboard video shows a traffic stop that jolted out of control on Oct. 28, with officers breaking in a passenger window and firing at Oriana Farrell's tires as she fled a traffic stop for a second time. The video made national news and Kassetas announced last month that state police would investigate.
New Mexico State Police spokesman Emmanuel Gutierrez says there was no firearm in the van, a statement that contradicts what prosecutors have said.
