ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) The president of Santa Fe Community College is fighting to keep her job in the face of the college governing board's move toward dismissing her. President Ana “Cha'' Guzmán's lawyer says her client has asked for a hearing before the board, which voted 3-2 to issue her a letter saying she's going to be fired.
Attorney Tim White says Guzman wants to face her critics and will move on to arbitration if the board proceeds to fire her. According to the Albuquerque Journal, Guzman says in a statement that she's proud of her record and that she ruffled feathers by trying to rid the college of cronyism.
Board vice-chairwoman Linda Siegle said she couldn't comment in detail on the situation because it is a personnel matter.
