SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) Fundraising is heating up for New Mexico's legislative races next year that will determine whether Democrats hold on to their majority in the state House of Representatives. A political committee affiliated with House Speaker W. Ken Martinez, a Grants Democrat, raised $171,500 during the past six months and had a cash balance of about $121,000 as of Oct. 7.
A political action committee operated by Republican Gov. Susana Martinez reported Tuesday it had raised about $313,000 from April through earlier this month. The group, Susana PAC, had cash-on-hand of about $128,800. The governor uses her PAC to help influence state and local races, including for the Legislature.
