LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Open burning is banned within Las Cruces because of extreme drought conditions in the southern New Mexico city. The Las Cruces Sun Sun-News reports that the ban ordered by the city Fire Department follows restrictions implemented by the New Mexico Forestry Division for many parts of the state.
