Railyards Gets Funding

IT’S OFFICIAL. THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE IS GETTING A 1-POINT-2 MILLION DOLLAR FEDERAL GRANT TO HELP COVER THE COST OF INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS AT THE RAILYARDS IN THE CITY’S BARELAS NEIGHBORHOOD. THE FEDERAL GRANT COMES WITH A MATCHING STATE GRANT. THE GRANT IS FROM THE U-S COMMERCE DEPARTMENT. SECRETARY OF COMMERCE WILBUR ROSS SAYS “THIS PROJECT WILL HELP ALBUQUERQUE EXPAND ITS FILM PRODUCTION SECTOR” AND ATTRACT A VARIETY OF NEW BUSINESSES TO THE AREA.

IT IS ALSO EXPECTED THE FUNDING WILL CREATE OVER 300 JOBS AND BRING IN ABOUT 9 MILLION DOLLARS IN PRIVATE INVESTMENT.
