Escapee in Custody

A MAN WHO ESCAPED FROM THE SAN MIGUEL COUNTY DETENTION CENTER SATURDAY AFTERNOON IS NOW BACK IN CUSTODY. AROUND 1PM, 22 YEAR OLD FELIX ROMERO BROKE A WINDOW IN THE REINTEGRATION BUILDING AND WALKED AWAY. LESS THAN TWO DAYS LATER, ON DECEMBER 2ND, ROMERO WALKED INTO THE NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE OFFICE IN LAS VEGAS AND SURRENDERED WITHOUT INCIDENT. HE’S NOW BACK IN THE SAN MIGUEL COUNTY DETENTION CENTER CHARGED WITH ESCAPE, A FOURTH DEGREE FELONY, AND CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, A PETTY MISDEMEANOR. HE HAD BEEN INCARCERATED ON AN OUTSTANDING BENCH WARRANT FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR AS WELL AS A PROBATION VIOLATION.
