NM Homeland Security Secretary Resigns

NEW MEXICO’S HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT HAS LOST ITS TOP EXECUTIVE. JACKIE LINDSAY IS RESIGNING AND SHE’S THE THIRD CABINET SECRETARY TO RESIGN FROM GOVERNOR LUJAN GRISHAM’S ADMINISTRATION SO FAR. SHE TELLS THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL SHE RESIGNED SO SHE COULD PUT MORE TIME INTO HER FAMILY AND HEALTH. LINDSAY IS A FORMER ABQ FIRE CAPTAIN.

THE NEW MEXICO HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT HAS NOT TURNED IN AN ANNUAL AUDIT REPORT DUE NOVEMBER 1ST. AN EARLIER AUDIT FROM BEFORE LINDSAY JOINED THE AGENCY OUTLINED A NUMBER OF ACCOUNTING ISSUES. LINDSAY IS ALSO LEAVING AFTER GOVERNOR LUJAN GRISHAM THIS WEEK DISCUSSED STRATEGIES TO FIGHT VIOLENT CRIME AND DOMESTIC TERRORISM WITH THE STATE’S CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION.

LINDSAY’S REPLACEMENT IS DEPUTY SECRETARY KELLY HAMILTON FOR NOW. GOVERNOR LUJAN GRISHAM HAS LAUNCHED AN SEARCH FOR A PERMANENT REPLACEMENT.
