A “Mock” Snow Day for Albuquerque

IT’S “MOCK SNOW DAY” IN ALBUQUERQUE THURSDAY. DIRECTOR OF THE MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, PAT MONTOYA, SAYS IT’S AN IMPORTANT DAY AS STAFFERS ARE PREPARING FOR WINTER.. IT HAS STREET MAINTENANCE DIVISION STAFFERS RUNNING THROUGH PROCEDURES AND ROUTES THAT THEY’LL HAVE TO CLEAR OF SNOW OR ICE WHEN WINTER ARRIVES. THE MAJORITY OF THE STREETS ARE MAJOR ARTERIAL ROADS.

THE PROCESS INVOLVES MORE THAN 80 EMPLOYEES TO CLEAR THE ROADS … USING 50 SNOW PLOWS AND 40 SALT SPREADERS WITH MORE THAN 16-THOUSAND CUBIC YARDS OF SALT AND CINDER. THE DEPARTMENT WORKS WITH BERNALILLO COUNTY AND THE STATE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT.
