Carson National Forest Fires Still Investigated

EIGHTEEN WILDFIRES THAT SPARKED UP IN ONE DAY LAST WEEK ON THE CARSON NATIONAL FOREST REMAIN UNDER INVESTIGATION. SPOKESWOMAN DENISE OTTAVIANO SAYS, FORTUNATELY, THE FIRES NEVER GOT OUT OF HAND, AND WERE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL AFTER BURNING ABOUT 100 ACRES. SHE SAYS FIREFIGHTERS QUICKLY RESPONDED TO THE FIRES, KEEPING THEM FROM GROWING MORE THAN THEY HAVE, BUT THE FIRES PUT THEM UNNECESSARILY AT RISK.

OTTAVIANO SAYS THE FIRES WERE ALL HUMAN-CAUSED…BUT INVESTIGATORS STILL DON’T KNOW IF THEY WERE INTENTIONALLY SET. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION, CONTACT THE FOREST SERVICE.
