State Fleet Going Green

FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO PLANS TO ADD PLUG-IN ELECTRIC AND HYBRID CARS TO ITS FLEET OF GOVERNMENT VEHICLES. THE STATE GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT SAYS IT WILL SPEND AT LEAST A MILLION DOLLARS ON THE ECO-FRIENDLY CARS BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT YEAR. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTS THAT THE DEPARTMENT OVERSEES ABOUT 2-THOUSAND GOVERNMENT VEHICLES. THE LEGISLATURE HAS ALSO SET ASIDE ONE AND-A-HALF MILLION DOLLARS FOR CAR-CHARGING STATIONS.
