UNM Pharmacologist Joins Vaping Research Team

A UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO PHARMACOLOGIST IS JOINING A TEAM THAT’S DISCOVERED A NEW DANGER LINKED TO VAPING. CHANNEL 13 NEWS REPORTS DR. MATTHEW CAMPEN WILL BE WORKING WITH RESEARCHERS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, BAYLOR AND THE VA MEDICAL CENTER IN HOUSTON ON VAPING EFFECTS ON HUMANS.

THE GROUP HAS FOUND THAT VAPING SUBSTANCES OTHER THAN NICOTINE WEAKENS A PERSON’S IMMUNE SYSTEM. THEY’RE MOSTLY FOCUSED ON THE EFFECTS OF E-CIGARETTES. CAMPEN SAYS MOST SUBSTANCES THAT ARE FINE IN THE STOMACH DON’T DO WELL IN THE LUNGS.

THE NEW MEXICO HEALTH DEPARTMENT IS NOW INVESTIGATING A DOZEN CASES OF SEVERE LUNG DISEASE RELATED TO VAPING.
