New Public Education Secretary Ready for Job

RYAN STEWART, THE MAN APPOINTED BY NEW MEXICO GOVERNOR LUJAN GRISHAM TO BE PUBLIC EDUCATION SECRETARY, HAS A BIG JOB AHEAD OF HIM. RYAN HAS TO OVERHAUL THE PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM AND U-S NEWS AND WORLD REPORT SAYS HE’S ALREADY TRAVELLED SOUTH TO A DISTRICT ALONG THE BORDER THAT’S ETHNICALLY DIVERSE. SECRETARY STEWART SAYS STATE FUNDS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS HAS BEEN INCREASED AND HE SAYS THAT’S POSITIVE FOR MATCHING THE NEEDS TO THE RESOURCES.

THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IS ALREADY UNDER COURT ORDER TO SHOW SIGNS OF IMPROVEMENT. THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT IS CHOOSING A CONTRACT FOR A NEW TESTING SYSTEM TO SHOW STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. STEWART SAYS THE NEXT TESTS SHOULD HELP TEACHERS RESPOND TO THEIR STUDENTS’ NEEDS.
