Rule Change on Checking Criminal History Box on Applications

IF YOU’RE APPLYING FOR A JOB IN NEW MEXICO … YOU NO LONGER HAVE THE CHECK A BOX ON THE APPLICATION IF YOU HAVE A CRIMINAL HISTORY. THE LEGISLATURE APPROVED SENATE BILL 96 AND GOVERNOR LUJAN GRISHAM SIGNED IT INTO LAW IN APRIL THIS YEAR.

LUJAN GRISHAM SAYS PEOPLE WHO WANT REHABILITATE THEMSELVES AFTER A STINT IN JAIL OR PRISON DESERVE THE RIGHT TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES. THE MEASURE WAS CO-SPONSORED BY REPUBLICAN STATE REP ALONZO BALDONADO AND DEMOCRATIC STATE REPRESENTATIVE BILL O’NEILL.
