Settlement Reached in 2017 Officer Involved Shooting

RODRIGO GARCIA’S FAMILY IS READY TO COLLECT 3.75 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE. IT’S MONEY FROM A SETTLEMENT AFTER GARCIA WAS SEVERELY INJURED IN A POLICE SHOOTING YEARS AGO. JOSEPH KENNEDY IS THE FAMILY’S ATTORNEY AND SAYS POLICE SHOULD HAVE NEVER USED EXCESSIVE FORCE ON GARCIA.

A TOTAL OF 80 BULLET WERE FOUND IN GARCIA’S VEHICLE. KENNEDY SAYS POLICE WITH APD SURROUNDED GARCIA AND SCARED HIM AFTER HE HIT A NUMBER OF PATROL CARS IN THE VEHICLE HE WAS DRIVING. THEY ARRESTED HIM EVEN THOUGH GARCIA WAS UNCONSCIOUS.

IT’S BEEN YEARS SINCE THAT HAPPENED AND GARCIA STILL CANNOT MOVE HIS ARMS AND LEGS. HIS FAMILY HAS TO HELP HIM GET AROUND.
