Udall Addressing the “Digital Divide”

NEW MEXICO’S U-S SENATOR TOM UDALL ON WEDNESDAY IS QUESTIONING FCC CHAIRMAN AJIT PAUL AND MEMBERS OF THAT AGENCY IN AN OVERSIGHT HEARING OF THE SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE. UDALL IS OPPOSED TO THE NEW MERGER CONDITIONS OFFERED BY T-MOBILE AND SPRINT. HE SAYS HE WANTS TO CLOSE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE THAT HE SAYS HURTS NEW MEXICO’S RURAL AND TRIBAL AREAS.

UDALL WAS AMONG FIVE LEADING DEMOCRATIC SENATORS WHO CALLED ON THE FCC AND THE U-S JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TO REJECT THE MERGER AND LET AMERICANS WEIGH IN ON THIS BY OPENING A 30 DAY PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ON THE PROPOSAL.
