THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE SAYS IT’S TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT MONSOON SEASON, WHICH OFFICIALLY BEGINS THIS SATURDAY. METEOROLOGIST IN CHARGE KERRY JONES SAYS THE BIG QUESTION THIS TIME OF YEAR IS…WHAT KIND OF SEASON WILL WE HAVE? HE SAYS EVERY MONSOON SEASON IS UNIQUE BUT THIS ONE WILL HAVE A VERY GOOD FINISH.

JONES TELLS NEWS RADIO KKOB THAT MONSOON SEASON CAN LAST ALL THE WAY INTO LATE SEPTEMBER. HE SAYS, IN ALBUQUERQUE, WE GET CLOSE TO HALF OF OUR YEARLY PRECIPITATION DURING MONSOON SEASON. BUT IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO, IT CAN BE AS HIGH AS 75 PERCENT.
