Possible Problem for Proposed Migrant Funding

THE ALBUQUERQUE CITY COUNCIL THIS COMING MONDAY COULD VOTE ON A PROPOSAL THAT PROVIDES 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS TO GO INTO A CITY EMERGENCY FUND TO ASSIST MIGRANTS RELEASED BY THE BORDER PATROL. AT LEAST ONE COUNCILOR, TRUDY JONES, SAYS CHILDREN ALREADY IN ALBUQUERQUE NEED HELP, SO SHE WON’T VOTE IN FAVOR OF THE FUNDING.

BUT IF THE COUNCIL APPROVES IT, THE FUNDS WOULD PAY FOR CONTRACTS WITH FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, NON-PROFITS AND GROUPS PROVIDING MEDICAL HELP, SHELTER, SHOWERS, CLOTHING AND TOILETRIES FOR IMMIGRANTS IN ALBUQUERQUE, WAITING TO BE SENT TO THEIR SPONSORS.

THE LAS CRUCES SUN NEWS REPORTS THAT MORE THAN 17-HUNDRED ASYLUM SEEKERS HAVE BEEN PLACED IN THE CITY SINCE APRIL 12TH.
