Pilgrims on the Road

MOTORISTS IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO SHOULD BE PREPARED TO SEE A LOT OF PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC ALONG SOME KEY ROADWAYS THIS WEEK. MARISA MAEZ WITH THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TELLS US IT’S DUE TO THE ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE TO EL SANTUARIO DE CHIMAYO.

SHE SAYS THE N-M D-O-T WILL ASSIST WITH SIGNAGE TO HELP KEEP THE WALKERS SAFE. LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL ALSO BE OUT MAKING SURE DRIVERS ARE PAYING ATTENTION AND WATCHING THEIR SPEED LIMIT. MAEZ SAYS THE ROADS WILL BE CONGESTED WITH ALL THE PILGRIMS.

MOST OF THE FOOT TRAFFIC WILL BE ALONG HIGHWAY 84-285 BETWEEN SANTA FE AND ESPANOLA, THROUGH POAJOQUE AND NAMBE. THE PEEK TIME FOR THE PILGRIMAGE IS GOOD FRIDAY.
